Architect Raul Renanda Designs His First-Ever Grand Acoustic Piano
Envisioning a highly evolved and modernized grand piano, Renanda aimed to create a coherent design, suitable for the contemporary work he often practices. His admiration for the instrument’s classical aesthetic coupled with his in-depth understanding of each client’s ultimate desires, have helped inspire and shape the final product – a recognizable grand piano which incorporates both traditional and new elements.
“The amazing thing about a grand piano, is not only it’s power to create beautiful pieces of music or its use as a great composer tool, but its magical sculptural quality that gives soul to the space around it.”
Collaborating closely with well-known Indonesian musician, film score composer, and musical instruments artisan, Aksan Sjuman, the duo worked tirelessly over a span of two years, crafting a quality piano parallel to those of a professional with impeccable sound performance and the best components to create a sense of familiarity and comfort amongst its users.
Featuring a base by the world renowned, Indonesian wood manufacturers, Saniharto, the acoustic instrument was carved from scratch and finished in a standard design Macassar Ebony, glossed in ‘classic piano black’ – adding a traditional luxury feel to the modernised design.
With newfound commitment, Sjuman and Renanda’s first-ever design is worth USD $250,000. The duo have also expressed desire to continue crafting pianos, whilst exploring a more diversified range of material – offering clients customizable luxury products and bespoke designs for a personalised playing experience.
