Occupying 326 square-meters across three floors at the prestigious mixed-used complex of Aoyuan City Plaza in Guangzhou, China – the La Moitié boutique translates from French to mean ‘half’ and thus reflects a uniformed balance between multiple opposing design elements.
The La Moitié Boutique in Guangzhou, China Represents Both Men and Women
Juxtaposed by two conflicting aesthetics, La Moitié presents a clear divide between light and dark environments, through utilizing squares, circles and contrasting colors of pink and black. Sketched by a team of local communicative designer from One Fine Day Studio & Partners, half the boutique is lined with arches, columns and chandeliers, radiating a soft, feminine aura whilst paralleled by a darker and colder, minimalistic approach.
Designed to represent the rigidity of men, as well as, the insignificance and classic romance of women – each space grows increasingly intertwined, with the sharp color divide further emphasized through sculptural features such as the central spiral staircase, where the usually distinctive split is blurred through different perspectives.
With a composite commercial space, and French restaurants housed on the first and mezzanine floor, the second floor offers guests opportunity for a unique, designer retail therapy experience, amidst an imaginative swirl of romantic, modern avant-garde.
