Skillfully blending expert knowledge and cutting-edge technology with an artistic flair, Hong-Kong-based Apex Motors may appear relatively new to the precipitous automobile industry, however its brand new AP-0 supercar follows a long line of highly-evolved vehicles including, the Elemental RP1 and Apex AP1.
The Formula 1-Inspired Apex Motors AP-0 Features an AR Racing Instructor
Surpassing its predecessors with a 90kW floor-mounted battery pack, modular spaceframe, carbon-fiber tub and chassis, plus a center spine for increased rigidity, the Apex AP-0 showcases front aerodynamic bodywork, a low-center of gravity, cross-shaped taillights and tremendous cornering abilities.
Utilizing a single electric motor, the Apex AP-0 can generate up to 649-hp and 427 pound-feet of torque through its rear axles in a 320 mile range, whilst accelerating 0 to 60 mph in under 2.3 seconds with a top speed of 190 mph.
Weighing an estimated 1,200 kg, the AP-0 incorporates an augmented-reality racing instructor aimed to gamify each individual driving experience – further branding it as a road-legal racer equipped with 14-inch carbon ceramic rotors, six-piston calipers in front and four-piston in the rear, plus a pair of 20-inch center-lock wheels, at its rear.
Fitted with gullwing doors, the single-seater AP-0 comes complete with a carbon, aluminium and leather interior, permitting both reclined and feet-up seating positions, with a race-bred push-rod suspension, square steering wheel and three-display instrument panel – allowing users to access automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and lane keep assist functions.
With an expected production rate of 500 units per year, set to commence by end 2022, the AP-0 is worth at least USD$ 195,000.
