Aston Martin Downsizes 007’s Iconic Ride With The DB5 Junior

Arguably the most famous car in the world, the iconic DB5 has firmly secured its place in automotive history – as 007 and every car enthusiasts’ favourite ride. Although not the first in the DB series, the DB5 represents the final evolution and is best-known for its iconic cinematic appearances.

Marking 50 years since its initial launch, Aston Martin’s most esteemed all-aluminium engine build is reimagined for the sixth time in an effort to target an unlikely demographic. Built to 66% the scale of its original predecessor, the Aston Martin DB5 Junior will feature a rear-wheel-drive, fully electric powertrain and multiple driving modes, fit for children.

Manufactured in limited quantity, one can expect a mere 1,059 examples of this build to ever hit the market, providing a rare opportunity for fans of the marque to own a piece of history. Paying homage to the rich history of the brand, each vehicle is distinctly characterised by classic Aston Martin badges consistent with the original cars, Silver Birch paintwork, Smiths instruments such as the original DB5 clock, full leather interiors, a mahogany and aluminium steering wheel, an opening and closing bonnet and boot, a rear live axle as per the original, with authentic upper and lower trailing-arm suspension and panhard rod, and individually numbered chassis plates, alongside the inclusion of swappable lithium-ion battery packs and regenerative braking.

Available for reservation at the official Aston Martin website, as news of the DB5 Junior coincides with Bring a Trailer’s auction of a full-sized, Rolling Sculpture Award-winning 1963 Aston Martin DB5, in McKinney, Texas.
