Mexico-based architectural studio, PALMA constructed a 50 square meter dwelling along the Pacific Coast. Dubbed ‘Litibu’, after the projects location, the bungalow comprises of two separate volumes connected through a central patio with overhead oculus, which facilitates an abundance of natural light, ventilation, and views.

As a product of a USD$38,000 budget, the residence accommodates essential living spaces such as a kitchen, lounge area, and private bedroom, featuring concrete elements including kitchen counters, shelves, and structural lintels. Topped by thatched, dried palm leaf roofs, PALMA draws inspiration from the region’s vernacular architecture, rich culture, and climate – therefore utilizing pigmented stucco instead of traditional paint to avoid humidity build-up in the walls.
