International modern furniture company, B&B Italia collaborates with French interior, product, industrial and architectural designer, Philippe Stark, on an innovative collection of outdoor seating.

Philippe Stark and B&B Italia’s Innovative ‘Oh It Rains’ Outdoor Furniture Collection

Dubbed ‘Oh, it rains!’, the collection comprises of a sofa and rectangular armchair showcasing over-sized foldable rain-resistant backrests capable of protecting each furniture from the natural elements.

Blocking out moisture, the backrests cover a surface area both longer and wider than the actual seat, utilizing an exposed mechanical aluminum hinge created in a joint effort by Philippe Stark and B&B Italia’s research and development team.

Doubling up as modular wall, the backrest may also be used to divide space for an enhanced sense of privacy. Featuring a raffia-inspired texture, each chair is not only waterproof but designed with a beachside appeal to match its intended purpose.
